Real Parties - Chloe & Ryan's High Tea Engagement Party

Yesterday we had the privilege of styling Chloe & Ryan's engagement party. The couple wanted a high-tea theme with a relaxed feel for their family and friends to feel comfortable in. So we faced the challenge of taking this high society event down a notch to provide a great atmosphere for their families to come together and celebrate. Check out the final results below:




We used a muted colour palette to bring out the pops of colour in the centrepieces which were filled with bright, fresh flowers.

The kids we entertained with lots of activities and sugar at their table!

Our pretty dessert buffet was filled with lots of yummy treats and we used on-trend bird cages to mark the occasion.

We'd like to give a big thank you to Chloe and Ryan and their parents for giving us the opportunity to help create some lasting memories with their friends and family. Congratulations!

Real Parties - Carla's Lady Bug Baby Shower

Last week we got to plan a super cute baby shower using lady bugs as our inspiration! The mum-to-be isn't into frilly pinks and girly greens so we faced the challenge of pulling off something edgy and modern while still remaining a cute baby shower. Check out the final results below:

Lots of yummy desserts and treats were the main focal point of the party - cake pops, profiter rolls, mini cakes, macaroons, red velvet cupcakes, cheesecake stuffed strawberries and tiramasu filled our dessert buffet!

The party favours were sippy cups filled with black and red jelly beans and tied up with a pretty bow! Cute!

The party was in the evening so we also had teas and coffees...but the real star of the show was the chocolate fondu fountain!

And this cute baby bump cake!

And here's a shot of the mum-to-be with her sister, Tracey who helped us pull together this super cute lady bug inspired baby shower!

Weekend Scenery - A Night Out With the Boys

We'll be putting photos up of the weekend's events so you guys can jump onto the blog and see if you got snapped up on the weekend!

Last week we had an acoustic night to raise money for Heritage Orphanage in Uganda. Performing at A Night Out With the Boys was Edward Pop, Joe Davis, Bedouin Sea and Death & A Cure. We would love to say a big thank you for all of the boys who performed on the night - it was an amazing night and we managed to raise lots of money for the orphanage.

Winnie the Pooh Honey Brunch

We were recently asked for ideas for a Winnie the Pooh "Honey Brunch", and as we searched for inspirations we fell in love with this theme!

Adorable table markers written in the classic Pooh font are just precious, the "bear banana bread" drizzled in honey, and the Honeycomb cereal served in little honey pots are some of our favourite elements!

Fresh flowers in a beautiful honey yellow make the perfect centrepiece, and the beehive piñata & Honeycomb cereal art are a fun way to keep the kiddos busy.

Beehive cakes and cupcakes will satisfy your sweet tooth, and honey pot favours will send each guest home with a smile.

DIY: Yarn Chandelier

We've been seeing these gems allover Pinterest lately, so we thought we'd share with you just how easy they are to make!

We're thrilled to share this super creative and useful Yarn Chandelier Tutorial from Libby Lane Press with you today!

This project utilises yarn, a glue mixture, and balloons - and is so versatile and budget-friendly. You can use these cool spheres for all sorts of parties and occasions...from birthday celebrations to baby showers, bridal showers and beyond!

Materials:

- Yarn

- School Glue

- Corn Starch

- Vaseline

- Dowel Rod/Pole for Hanging

- Scissors

- Balloons

- Bowl for Mixing

Step by Step INSTRUCTIONS:


1. Blow up Balloons:
We wanted various sizes so we chose to incorporate a large punching ball as our main focal point and added standard balloons for the surrounding areas. We only blew the standard balloons to approximately half capacity to keep as true of a circular shape as possible.

2. Assemble work space:
Place a long pole or dowel rod between two chairs to create a DIY drying station. We highly recommend placing a plastic bin bag or disposable plastic tablecloth underneath where you will hang the balloons. We initially began this project outdoors, however wind became a factor and we were forced to relocate (not easy!)

3. Attach balloons to rod:
Tie yarn around the stem of the balloon and hang from the dowel rod. Be sure that the balloon is suspended and not touching the surrounding balloons.

4. Vaseline:
Cover each balloon in a light coating of Vaseline. This ensures that the yarn will not stick to the balloon once it is dried and popped.

5. Mixing and Dipping:
Mix the school glue (about half of the bottle) with approx. 1/2 cup of cornstarch and approx. 1/4 cup of water. We estimated these amounts and added more cornstarch and glue when desiring a thicker paste consistency.

Dip the yarn into the glue mixture, squeeze out excess, and begin wrapping around the balloon vertically and then switch to horizontally. Once you have covered a good part of your balloon, cut the yarn and tie to a surrounding piece. We chose to do this near the stem of the balloon so it would not be as obvious when hanging.

6. Drying and Popping:
Allow yarn chandeliers to hang for 24 hours in a dry, covered area. Do not attempt to shorten this process!

Next, pop the balloon (this is where we held our breath in anticipation). The yarn will also have dried glue crystals however they easily flake off when tapped.

Now your yarn chandeliers are ready to hang! How cute are they in this Whimsical Winter Wonderland themed party?
