Event Planner: A Day in the Life

Ever wondered what event planners do on a day-to-day basis?
Here's some pics from a typical day in the life of Elody Events:

5:00am - Wakeup call (usually resulting in the snooze button being hit and a resurfacing some 7-10 minutes later!)

6:00 am - Hit the Flower Markets! Nothing like a flower-fueled rush of adrenalin to start the day!

8.00am - A quick stop for breakfast on the go! As you can see - it's always something super healthy!

8.30 am - Catch up on emails and office work..what do you mean just 1 computer? We require a minimum of three to plan events!

10.00am - We're sure there's a spotlight in heaven! Most of our days entail a trip to see our BFFs at the cutting counter

11.00am - The inevitable stop off at Bunnings

12.00pm - Powertools! Creating party props and decorations is hard work!

1.00pm - Cake testing! That counts as lunch - right?

2.00 pm - The inevitable cutting and glueing that comes with every event

3.00 pm - Coffee Break!!

3.15 pm - Back on track and ready to get seriously stuck in to some flower arrangements

 5.00pm - Event setup ... Crunch time!

7.00pm - Show time!

Somewhere between 12.00am and 3.00am - packed up and ready to dump everything back in the showroom - who can be bothered dealing with all that mess today? Not us! We're ready to curl up in bed to sleep of one perfect day!

It's a tough job but somebody has to do it right?

The Quest for the Perfect Mother's Day Gift

Mother's Day is just around the corner. From bouquets of flowers and sappy greeting cards to family brunches and pamper packages, Mother's Day is all about showing your mum she still is, and always will be the number one woman in your life.

Whether you go all out with your Mother's Day plans, or opt for a simple heartfelt and sincere gesture, there are a number of ways to really make mum feel special with some perfect Mother's Day gift ideas:

For the full-time mum
When it comes to demanding jobs, there's nothing that quite measures up to the full-time mum. She's on call 24/7, dealing with tough deadlines and multi-tasking to the fullest - without annual leave, sick leave or even weekends. For full-time mums, there's no better gift than some well-deserved time off. Consider a full-on day spa package or even just a relaxing breakfast in bed to show her just how much her hard work is appreciated.

For the working mum
Today's working mum is like the modern superwoman, juggling family responsibilities with the gruelling 9 to 5 grind. Consider great gadgets and accessories to help streamline her busy life, including time-saving kitchen appliances, or something to brighten up her work space with great office accessories.

For the techie mum
Computers are hardly just for the realm of business people now. Today, mums are among the most technically and social media savvy audiences; blogging, tweeting and participating in social media communities galore. For your techie mum, consider iPhone accessories, beautiful laptop cases or even the latest iPad so she can take her blog and twitter with her wherever she goes.

For the active mum
Mother's day is all about showing your love and appreciation, and that means recognising the things about your mum that make her so unique. If your mum's all about staying in shape to look and feel fab, then excersise equipment or clothes and accessories will be a no brainer when it comes to the perfect Mother's Day gift idea.

For the arts and craft-y mum
From crocheting a warm cosy afghan or making the perfect gingerbread house for school, your mum is the champion of DIY projects. Tap into her creative side with some fun craft activities that you can work on as a family.

For the gourmet mum
In 2009, Australia fell in love with MasterChef's first winner, Julie Goodwin. The show and the adoring mother of three has been an inspiration to many, and has aspiring foodies young and old whipping up plenty of gourmet goodies in the home kitchens. If your mum is a culinary creator, some nifty kitchen gadgets and cookware will be at the top of her wish list.

For every mum
Ultimately, the perfect gift is one that's thoughtful, genuine and straight from the heart. Whether it's a bouquet of roses in her favourite shade of lavender or a handmade card on why she's the "best-est" or even if its just letting her know you're thinking of her with a loving phone call from overseas, the perfect gift for every mum will always be the one that comes from you.

Whatever you decide to go with, remember gift shopping can be a joy! Happy hunting!
